After two years of running the Aspiring Canadian Poets Contest, supported by literary editor Allyson Latta, and poets Shannon Bramer, Catherine Graham, and Evelyn Lau (Vancouver Poet Laureate), Aspiring Canadian Writers Contests Inc. is excited to celebrate for one year in 2014 with the 2014 Singer-Songwriter Mentor Experience! Based on the model of the Aspiring Canadian Poets Contest, this twin project is a mentoring opportunity for unsigned Canadian singer-songwriters.

"The poetry contest is my initiative to help fellow aspiring poets in a small but meaningful way with a mentoring relationship with a published poet," says Heidi Stock, Aspiring Canadian Writers Contests Inc. "We may express ourselves best in one art form, but we can be inspired by others: fine art, film, music. Among those, music most inspired my poetry, musical references are throughout my poems, music inspires and affects all of us on creative, emotional, and spiritual levels. For that reason, I wanted to create this opportunity in 2014 for aspiring Canadian singer-songwriters."
"Like the annual Aspiring Canadian Poets Contest, the 2014 Singer-Songwriter Mentor Experience is a personal passion, a joy project (many thanks to Joy Coach, Janice Cunning, for your support and guidance), a labour of love. It's fitting that one of Canada's beloved singer-songwriters, a woman whose name means love, Luba, is our Contest Mentor. I'm very grateful for Luba's interest and participation and the enthusiastic support of our Contest Judges:  Lesley, Luther, Katie, Melanie, and Theo. As artists and individuals, this lot is exceptional! Thanks as well to our Industry Partner, Songwriters Association of Canada, which has been for many years a leading supporter of Canadian songwriters through its advocacy, education, and community efforts and accomplishments." ~ Heidi Stock
